If you're looking to upgrade your ACT car licence (Class C) to a Light Rigid (LR) heavy vehicle licence, Smartto Driving Academy (SDA) offers high-quality, one-on-one heavy vehicle training and assessment with Government Accredited Instructors and assessors. SDA is qualified to deliver training and assessments on behalf of both the ACT and NSW Governments.

LR Licence Specific Requirements

1) Be at least 18 years old;
2) Held a Class C licence for at least 12 months;
3) Complete SDA Enrolment Form;
4) Pass the Heavy Vehicle Knowledge Test -
Road Ready Centre Kambah: (02) 6109 0152;
Road Ready Centre Mitchell: (02) 6162 5152.

What is a Light Rigid (LR) Vehicle?

LR licence allows you to drive:
A vehicle with a GVM over 4.5 tonnes and up to 8 tonnes;
A vehicle with GVM up to 8 tonnes that seats more than 12 adults, including the driver (e.g. small buses);
A vehicle towing one trailer with a GVM up to 9 tonnes;

Does NOT cover:
Towing 2 or more trailers
Towing a single trailer over 9 tonnes GVMnt with Government Accredited Instructors and assessors. SDA is qualified to deliver training and assessments on behalf of both the ACT and NSW Governments.
